Neurocritical Care & Neurosurgery
Our Neurosurgery Clinic delivers quality and safe healthcare services provided by specialists using advanced medical technologies. Many diseases are diagnosed and treated at our Neurosurgery Clinic. Diagnostic and therapeutic services include brain tumor, awake tumor surgery, pituitary tumor (transnasal surgery), aneurysm surgery – AVM surgery,
Parkinson’s disease and other motor movement disorders, pain management surgery (trigeminal neuralgia), epilepsy surgery, head traumas, cerebral hemorrhages, lumbar and cervical hernia, spondylolisthesis, spinal stenosis, spinal fractures (traumatic or secondary to osteoporosis), entrapment neuropathies (carpal tunnel syndrome etc.), canal stenosis surgeries, spinal tumor surgeries and hydrocephaly. (Care you can believe in)
Diagnostic Methods
Our specialist evaluates patient’s health history and complaints and through physical examination they investigate possible underlying causes with necessary blood tests and radiological examinations (Brainstem auditory evoked response (BAER), Carotid Doppler Ultrasound, cerebral angiogram, Computed Tomography (CT), discography, MRI, Electroencephalogram (EEG), Electromyography (EMG) and Lumbar puncture (LP)).
What is EEG (Electroencephalogram)?
EEG electroencephalogram) is used for examining the electrical activities produced in the form of waves by the nerve cells in brain. It can be used to diagnose and monitor abnormalities in the wave patterns, EEG is performed using electrodes that are placed on the head. EEG is used in cases such as epilepsy, impaired consciousness and cognition, memory impairment, attention deficit, certain psychiatric conditions and sleep disorders
What is EMG (Electromyography)?
EMG (Electromyography) is used to assess the health of muscles and the nerve cells that control them (motor neurons). This method is commonly used for nerve entrapments like carpal tunnel syndrome, numbness and pain in arms and legs, assessment of damage and follow-up for lumbar and cervical herniated discs, treatment of documented muscle diseases and neuromuscular junction disorders. Also, EMG is used to detect and follow up chronic diseases that harm nervous functions and metabolic diseases such as diabetes mellitus, kidney diseases, nerve and muscle injury in spinal cord, and muscle diseases.
What is VEP, SEP?
VEP (Visual Evoked Potentials) and SEP (Somatosensorial Evoked Potentials) are actively used in our Neurology clinic to diagnose and follow up certain diseases, such as multiple sclerosis.
Treatment Methods
The treatment process is conducted using a holistic approach in cooperation with Neurology, Neuroradiology, Neuroanesthesia, Neuro-oncology, Psychiatry and other related departments depending on the patient’s specific needs. Surgeries are performed safely for oncology patients using microsurgery methods under guidance of neuro-monitoring and neuro-navigation.
Radiosurgery can be carried out cooperatively with the Radiation Oncology Department when necessary. Open surgery and Kyphoplasty/Vertebroplasty (bone cement with laparoscopic surgery) for selected patients in cases of spinal fractures, microsurgery and laser radiofrequency for lumbar and cervical hernias are also performed. Also, cerebral shunt surgery performed by our surgeons.
